The Importing Titles & Editions Manual has been added to the downloads section of the website.
This manual covers how to import title and edition records into EasyRoyalties. A title import can be used to create new records or update existing records.
More importantly, it explains the difference between titles and editions.
In EasyRoyalties the title is the name of the intellectual property (IP), while the edition is the name of a format that the IP is available in.
- Each title has a unique title code,
- Each edition has a unique ISBN. An edition may also have a SKU or product code.
A title may be linked to many editions. Each edition is linked to one title.
A titles such as “Beaches of France” may be available in several editions;
- Beaches of France (paperback)
- Beaches of France (hardcover)
- Beaches of France Audio Book (audio-book)
- Beaches of France (eBook)
- Beaches of Normandy (digital product)
Though each edition will have the same title code and the same IP title each edition can have a different edition title and they all will have different ISBNs.
