With Easy Royalties you can export sales from QuickBooks and import that file into Easy Royalties.

Likewise you can export payments due to royalty recipients and import the payments into QuickBooks. This requires the use of Transaction Pro Importer from www.baystateconsulting.com (a $199.95 program).

I am looking for a Royalty software program that will interface with Intuit and Quickbooks. We process royalties from oil well production.

One minor complaint is that it doesn't state the beginning date of the royalty period! It ends Nov. 30, but when did it begin?

One item that this overview does not show is parrallel testing. Parallel testing is usually done by larger companies.

Last year a client installed the software, and performed a parallel test.

They had just finished processing thie June 2008 royalties with their old royalty software. For the parallel test they used the starting balances as of January 2008, imported sales for January through June and generated royalty statements with the new system. Then they compared the statements from both systems.

When the statements matched it confirmed that the new system was setup correctly.

Comment on Backup Plan by Edwin Fager

Why the Clickfree USB hard drive?

Clickfree is simple to use. Plug it into the USB port and it backs up the file. When its done remove it. Very simple. Since you don't leave the Clickfree attached to your PC you don't have to worry about a power surge damaging it.

If you are more concerned about data security use the hardware encrpyted Maxtor Black Armor Hard Drives. It takes a few more steps to activate the backup software; however, your information is protected if the drive is stolen.

For the data protection fanatic there is ioSAFE, a fire and water proof hardrive. You can purchase it as an external USB hard drive or as an internal one.

Overall, we recommend the ClickFree hard drive for its ease of use.

Some book publishers have an expiration date in their royalty contract's reserve for returns clause. They withhold a reserve for returns on sales made during the first 12 to 36 months, but no reserve on sales made thereafter.
